We were called to West Derby school Liverpool to remove years of discarded chewing gum. The area we were tackling was over 3000 square metres on various different surfaces.
Using our state of the art pressure washing equipment we got to work on the task. Using the 2 man set up we started removing the gum from the block paving areas surrounding the school making sure every piece of gum was removed.
The next task was removing gum from the steps and walkways. The steps were heavily covered in gum as this was a main walkway between levels, a full clean was required as well as all the gum being removed.
All the raised walkways as you can see in the pictures are wooden decking with a none slip coating strip attached. This required a different approach as it can be very easy to damage the decking or remove the anti slip coating. We switched to a different set up for this task which achieved some fantastic results without any damage to the existing surface.
We then cleaned the areas below the raised decking removing any debris that had fallen through as well as removing all the chewing gum.
Finally we washed down all the surrounding walls, doors and windows making sure the school was in the same condition as we found it – less the chewing gum!
